Youth Swim Lessons- Stage 1- 6:30pm

IN 2018, OUR SWIM LESSON PROGRAM CHANGED TO THE Y’S SAFETY AROUND WATER PROGRAM. THIS PROGRAM TEACHES CHILDREN OF ALL AGES AND FROM ALL BACKGROUNDS THAT WATER CAN BE FUN, NOT SCARY. SAFETY AROUND WATER FOCUSES ON WATER SAFETY AND SELF-RESCUE SKILLS THAT HELP PREVENT DROWNING. STUDENTS DEMONSTRATE BASIC COMPETENCY BY LEARNING BENCHMARK SKILLS THROUGH VARYING STAGES OF CURRICULUM. KNOWING HOW TO BE SAFE AROUND WATER IS ONE OF THE MOST IMPORTANT LIFE SKILLS WE CAN TEACH OUR CHILDREN. IT GIVES THEM CONFIDENCE, AND IT CAN SAVE THEIR LIVES. Stage 1: Develops personal water safety and basic swimming skills Stage 2: Develop a high level of comfort in the water by practicing safe water habits, engaging in underwater exploration, and learning how to swim to safety and exit if they fall into a body of water. Stage 3: Students learn additional water safety skills and build stroke technique
